Style Snap Shot

I will admit that before starting this blog (and maybe still) I have that little voice inside my hard-head that tells me I don’t have a fashion-blogger-worthy style. However, there are other days where I’m overly confident because I feel 110% in an outfit. That’s how everyday should feel, whether you’re in a t-shirt and jeans (as I am often) or dolled up for date-night. Personally I love being proud of how great every piece comes together. I can only hope to share that passion of styling an outfit with you as well.

Mahja’s Salsa Recipe

I didn’t give much thought into what my first Eats post would be, it came to me on it’s own. My best friend and her family love Mexican food (who doesn’t?) and over time I’ve been their go-to salsa person. My boyfriend has seen remnants of salsa I’ve made for my friend’s family but never tried it himself. A year later, I finally got around to making him his own batch of salsa and that was when it hit me…  “This is it, this is my first Eats post!”.IMG_9357

Who doesn’t love chips and salsa?! You’ll hear me say this way too often, I can live off of chips and salsa. From time to time I’ll throw in a can of black beans into any salsa on hand and voila, dinner is served! Protein, check! Veggies, check! That’s a perfectly balanced meal if you ask me.

I like recipes that don’t have very many ingredients. As I share them you’ll come to see the theme. I also like that all the ingredients in this recipe are items you’ll commonly find in any kitchen. That’s what I love! The chilies used in this recipe may not be in everyone’s pantry but trust me, it’s what makes them! They’re called chiltepines (aka bird peppers) and grow in brushes found on the Sonoran-Arizona border. You can also find them in the Hispanic food aisles.

If anyone knows Mexican food it’s me, not only because of my Mexican roots, but because I’m always on the hunt to try new and exciting variations of it. You’ll see, as I will be reviewing a few of the places I stumble into. Needless to say, I had to feature my favorite salsa – my mom’s (Mahja, as I call her) salsa. Not only is this the salsa she’s made for years, but the recipe has been passed down in our family. It’s simple but it will go a long way.

Mahja’s Salsa Recipe

Total Time: 6 minutes

  1. Combine all ingredients in a food processor and blend until you have reached desired consistency. I like mine a bit thick.

Welcome! Bienvenido!

If you’re reading this, it means I somehow nagged you enough to come take a peak. For that, I thank you! As I prepare to embark on the journey of blogging, I wanted to make sure that who I am behind the keyboard is genuinely represented. I read and follow many blogs and have always thought, “I can’t do this. My life isn’t perfect like theirs”. However, if you really dive into anyone’s blog, you begin to see that though their lives aren’t perfect, it is depicted in a way that they find positivity in every light. This is my way of documenting my imperfect life in a way that I can show others the positive light in all things. Along with sharing my obsessions of the moment, of course. Whether they are the comfiest linen v-neck (I’ve literally been living in it) or my favorite spinach dip!

You’ll come to find that I have many passions in life. My family, they are my rock! My friends, who may be the only ones reading this. I know for sure of one, the best friend, my best half (many posts will be inspired by her). The boyfriend, who couldn’t be more encouraging – he’s the best friend I never knew I needed. Without his support, I wouldn’t have this little corner in the blogging world. Seriously, I’m pretty tech savvy but he builds websites for a living so… thanks, Boyfriend!

I have one passion that I rarely disclose, and that is bringing humor to others. Humor also helps me get through those days where I just can’t. It comes in handy during incredibly awkward moments, because believe it or not, I’m very introverted. Being introverted comes with many awkward and anxious moments, at least for me. I actually debated between starting this blog or keeping my thoughts to myself. We all know what happens when we bottle up our thoughts so I chose to be brave and blog away!
